Booted up Linux this morning and couldn't get online. Tried using the Live CD and it worked; tried another PC and it worked too. Digging onto configs. Very frustrated - but Lisa gave me a pity kiss & hug and helped me get out of my rut.
That's what I get for playing, eh? This is why I had three PCs when I lived alone. Well, at least it makes for a good excuse to hoard electronics. Right now I'm using Lisa's old machine so I can get online for reference materials, with my crippled machine sitting on my left. I suppose I should print out some man pages.
Lisa is promising to get me a new computer "when the money comes in." We are expecting a check refunding several months worth of drug co-pays (from last year). It won't completely pay for a low-end machine, but it'll cover most of it.
She is anxious for me to have a Windows 7 machine so I can help her out with my admin skills. Too bad I want to wipe the drive and install Ubuntu (the stable version, being a new machine). Perhaps I'll do a dual-boot setup. I'm anxious for a new machine because mine is 8 years old and just can't provide a smooth online experience.
