now I can relax

This morning I brought the wireless router out to the living room and plugged my laptop in directly. With a bit of futzing I was able to get the eth0 (Ethernet) interface up. Several hours of research and software updates later, I ran across Wicd. It allowed me to set up my network interfaces quickly and easily. Now I'm back on wireless, the router has been returned to its usual out-of-the-way place and I can relax.
