stupid cat

Jack got a new harness yesterday. He doesn't usually even wear a collar, but took to the harness remarkably well. It seemed to have a relaxing effect on him. On the other hand, I dosed him with Frontline yesterday morning so we can get a flea-free start in our new home (Rocko is already on the same regimen). That stuff is supposed to start killing parasites within only a few hours, so by the time I put the harness on he was already feeling relief.

But this morning, after sleeping peacefully all night, he went out for his morning constitutional, came back in and then disappeared again. He knows that he's going with us (and seems happier about that than the idea of staying here without us for a couple more weeks) but he is probably nervous about the ride. That is why we got a harness - so he can be leashed while in the car to prevent escapes. I lost my cat Caliber that way back in '96. got out to take a leak and he sprang out the door and up a steep, wooded hill. Never got him back.

If he doesn't show up soon, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to leave. on the bright side, I won't need to pack the car tomorrow. It's already filled to the brim and I had to winnow down my supplies and convince her to do the same.
