Santa Paws leaves reindeer legs for all the good dogs

Santa Paws leaves reindeer legs for all the good puppies and dogs
Christmas worked out pretty well this year. We have a new home. I had the chance to meet more of Lisa's family, and all in one place to boot.

Dad and Velma sent us some delicious steaks, oranges and a tasty collection of sweets & pears. We shared a handful of oranges and a couple of pears with Lisa's mom.

Rocko got that deer leg as an early present and by Christmas morning had it broken down to two bones and a hoof. He is taking his time with them but seems to be concentrating on the process of whittling them down and getting at the marrow. The leg was good and fresh when he got it; the long bones are translucent and the red marrow is visible through the bone.

Christmas dinner was cooked primarily by Lisa's sister Jeannie with a little help from her husband Herbert (he rolled up the crescent rolls), and it was quite good. There was a ham and a turkey breast, a tray of dressing, sweet potatoes, creamed corn, green beans with fatback; cole slaw, potato salad and deviled eggs. Everything made from scratch except for the gravy.

Today Ruth is expecting us to come back and help her eat the leftovers, but Lisa is in a lot of pain from the past few days' exertion. She made peanut butter pinwheels on Christmas Eve and the muscle aches from rolling out the dough are finally hitting her. Nevertheless we will probably be there by late afternoon.
