A quiet New Year's Eve on the mountainside

What a glorious day today was. Bright sunshine (for the six hours we are allotted by the surrounding terrain) and warm, just above 50F. All of us went out and sat on the hillside together. Well, Jack didn't get too close, but he was with us in spirit.

Lisa's already in bed. I was too but restless leg syndrome told me that 8 PM is too early. I really am tired, though. The new year starts tomorrow and I have to drive across the ridge into Transylvania County before noon to pick up medications.

I really was hoping that they'd be ready today; with the new year comes co-pays for meds. Lisa takes over $30K/year in meds, so by the end of April we've already spent enough on co-pays that they are suspended until the next year. But, they couldn't be legally filled until the 1st and I would not ask the pharmacy to break the rules. Not even to save myself another wilderness journey. Then again I really love the drive; over 20 miles without passing a single house.

About two miles from our house is a "Twisty Roads - 15 MPH - Next 4 Miles" sign. On my way to the pharmacy in Brevard, NC

Guess I should take the dog and cat out for a while so that I can lay down and sleep without feeling guilty over any bladders left unemptied thanks to my laziness.

See y'all next year. Stay home tonight if you can ... it's Amateur Night at the bars.
