So, Ruth got her pacemaker yesterday; her BP and heart rate are back to normal. Lisa and I will be back up there within a matter of days. Ruth will have nurses during the day but needs somebody there at night too. I am not the right cook for her tastes, but I don't mind helping out around the house otherwise.
I guess I should give this house a thorough cleaning before we leave, and maybe a bug bomb as we walk out the door. The last time we came back, the house was disgusting. Dust, hairballs, a few cucarachas in the kitchen. Bear in mind, though, Florida in general seemed pretty gross after 10 days in the mountains.
Jacob is in the process of restoring our swimming pool to a state of clarity. He is working for a pool company now and has access to the parts and tools needed. Already he has brought us a used pump to replace the old, dead one. Numerous gallons of pool shock are killing the algae and wildlife; it is the end of the season, but there were still a few tadpoles - plus a dragonfly hatch that peaked a few days ago. They are Golden-winged Skimmers, about 2" long and having a wingspan of about 3".
Lisa spoke with her mother this evening, and it looks like she will be spending time in a convalescent home after she leaves the hospital. We can look after her house while she's there. And I may be able to get some work if I tell my company where I'll be.
