Casa DeKing, Canton, NC
(Day 6: Karl and Shannon)

I can't wait to get home from vacation so I can get some rest. Today I replaced a broken wall socket for Ruth, did a load of laundry, went shopping and will be at Karl's and Shannon's at 6 PM. There is more that Ruth wants me to do; she is concerned with keeping her deck and carport clean. At the end of September - i.e. now - leaves are starting to fall in abundance. Lisa swept the deck and it was, in Ruth's opinion, due for another sweep less than an hour later.

Finally bought a GPS for the car. It is a Magellan RoadMate 2036 and, despite being sent down a couple of strange roads on the way back from Best Buy via McDonald's (after - oddly - being sent through a cemetery, I took one deliberate wrong turn a while later as a test) I'd have to say that I'm happy with it. I mounted it to the windshield with the supplied suction-cup mechanism. Now I will program the route for tonight.

9:50 PM -- Karl and Shannon took us to Fat Buddy's BBQ for supper. The food was excellent. Both of them were too busy to spend a lot of time with us; Karl is in school for GIS (Geographical Information Services), keeping up on the latest in his field. Shannon is not only a Otolaryngist but also has a second job in the medical field.
