early to bed, early to rise

We all hit the hay pretty early last night, and I heard the cuckoo clock at 7 AM; time to get up. Crept out as quietly as possible, taking my laptop into the basement. Took the dog out to do his business and found the weather to be surprisingly reasonable: it is 48 degrees Fahrenheit - a good 20 degrees warmer than the past two mornings. No frost, obviously, and barely a hint of dew. They say it will reach about 70F today. I was tempted to switch from jeans to shorts while using the leaf blower yesterday. I'll probably be wearing the shorts this afternoon.

I'd like to make coffee but all the doors are fairly noisy so I'll be downstairs (and outside) until I hear movement upstairs. That's OK. Lately the caffeine has been getting to me if I have more than a couple o' cuppas. And since I couldn't get back to sleep at 7, a cup of joe - though tempting - isn't a necessity right now.

Ooh - footsteps on the floor above! Ruth will surely make coffee. Better her than me, only because she'll make it to her liking. We want her to be happy. She is recovering well from her surgery, too, though she complains of weakness. That will pass. The pacemaker is keeping her heart rate at 72 beats per minute. Prior to the implantation, her pulse was an alarming 30 BPM.

And now the TV is on. Coffee will follow shortly. Yum.
