I'd like to have goats again, but I can't afford to feed them; the wild beasties o' the forest could be a problem too. My neighbor had a rooster at one time but something tore it to shreds, and I had a (big, 16-pound) cat taken by something last spring.

The neighbor to the south has a little farm, with chickens, goats and a host of hunting dogs. I tend to think that the dogs help keep predators at bay down there. Hey, at least I get to see and hear goats sometimes! They aren't mine, but they are there to be enjoyed.
