As much as I bitch about how hot it is in Florida all the time, at least we don't often have to deal with the kind of weather that has gripped much of the US the week. In fact, it is "only" 91 F. here today. Being situated near the coast of a peninsula helps.
Our plans for North Carolina are far from solid. We fully intend to go up for at least a visit, but logistical issues nag at us. Medical appointments. An embarrassing number of prescriptions, with refill dates spread out over a couple of weeks. Mortgage and utilities. Dog and cat.
One thing is for sure: we will not be able to find a place with as much space as we have here for anything like what we pay now. Last summer's refinancing through the HAMP reduced our monthly payment to less than $400 and we have a quarter-acre yard and swimming pool.
