I am trying out the latest version of Kubuntu and Ubuntu Linux on my ancient Dell and Lisa's retired Compaq. Both are quite old and both have some oddball hardware.

Previous attempts to run Linux on the Dell have met with utter failure. Newer releases seem to handle my hardware better, but I still need to tweak the boot string to get the video to work. I can get it to boot and run, and even connect to our network, but cannot use the network. Can't connect using DHCP; I have to manually set up the connection and have not yet managed to get it quite right. It'll happen, though.

Moving on ... our Golden Orb Weaver has disappeared. Her web remains, large and strong, but it is collecting leaves and other debris. I haven't seen her for almost a week.
