rocko

Lisa has been talking about getting another dog for a while now.

Yesterday we took a drive out to the pound and found Rocko.

We went in planning to "only look", but he was so mellow and friendly (without being overly excited). The staff let us walk him around outside and it was decided.

I put some cash down and Lisa wrote a check for the remainder; it consumed most of our savings but so far it has been worth it.

Rocko is very intelligent, fully housebroken and has respect for the cat. Jack isn't convinced of that yet, though. He doesn't bark unless necessary. Norman came home late last evening and the dog barked when he came in, but not enough to wake me (I was sleeping like a log). He doesn't chew things up. Lisa made a knotted toy for him using a section of heavy hemp rope, which he enjoys but is not trying to destroy. He likes chasing sticks and will bring them back to you.

It seems that he was brought up properly - although the staff at the shelter said that when they got him, someone had tried to castrate him using zip ties. They finished the job properly and treated him for heartworm.

And he is exactly the kind of dog you want by your side when you open the front door and find a stranger knocking.
