cats and religion

Our cat, Jack, has evidently converted to Catholicism. He won't eat until we "bless" his food with "holy water" from his water dish. Just a few drops is all that is necessary.

I always top it off with the sign of the cross - the way the priests do it, out in the air, by his dish - and sometimes mumble the "in domino patri" thing (though I don't think he cares about that).

One day I asked him if he wanted a communion wafer to go with that. "We don't have any wafers", I added, "but I could give you a Ritz cracker if you want." He declined the offer and went about his business.
