one pissed off cat
Jack is a bit upset with me today. This morning I applied some of that liquid flea and tick repellent to the back of his neck. He immediately started twitching his neck and back muscles (the preparation obviously made him itch) and he went outside, where he soon began running around looking upset.
The twitching has stopped and he is back indoors, but has been avoiding me. If I get him cornered he lets me pet him briefly but as he walks around the house he stays away from me. I assured him that there was no more of that awful stuff, and that the application was necessary; he calmed down a bit, but I am not sure he believes me.
He'll get over it.

Jay, be sure you aren't using the HARTZ flea and tick product on your cat. I had a cat die from the poison they use in that stuff!! HARTZ has been sued in a class cation about the sale of the stuff. It uses an active ingrediant that affects some cats nervous systems and can be fatal. The only ones safe to use are the ones you buy from the vet, and unfortunately, they are much more expensive.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your concern, and I share it. I do not recall the brand of product used, and the package is buried in the trash somewhere, but it did come from the vet.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-wife and I once used a similar preparation on a dog (the canine product, of course) and it made him hyperactive for several days, so much so that he stripped all of the bark from an 8" diameter tree - from ground level to 4' above the ground - while we were at work.
