powerless

Today our electricity was shut off just before noon, and they didn't turn it back on until 7:30 pm.

Lisa paid the bill last Friday or over the weekend, but somehow we ended up on this morning's “shutoff” list. Lisa called Progress Energy several times during the day, but the best estimate they could give us was that the power would be turned back on “sometime today”. I had nearly given up hope and was sitting on the front porch reading with Sage and Jack the cat when a truck arrived. I took Sage back inside so she wouldn't get upset and bark at the guy.

The ambient temperature in the living room was 90F when the power was restored. Thank God we didn't have to wait until tomorrow.
