strange things

According to Robert Bixby of the Concord Coalition, a nonpartisan group that advocates budget restraint, "strange things happen when people run for president." He is referring to John McCain's budget plan, which promises tax cuts AND a balanced budget. McCain, remember, is an erstwhile deficit hawk. Strange, indeed.

This is popular with Republicans and Conservatives, but how many of us have had success balancing our own budgets by getting a poorer paying job than we used to have? You can only cut so much before adverse effects become apparent: loss of health care coverage, lack of maintenance on physical infrastructure, poorer nutrition, etc.

The Bush [mis]administration has already put us ever further into debt working with the same philosophy McCain now embraces.

There was a time when I would have voted for John McCain (which would have been a first for me - I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate), but not now. As Barack Obama has said, either Democrat would be better than McCain, but even McCain would be better than Bush. I still support Hillary but would gladly vote for Obama if he is selected as the Democratic candidate.
