palmetto bug

We got a good laugh tonight at the house.

One of the other residents, a young guy from up north, freaked out in the kitchen. He yelled for me to turn on the light and told me that he was sure there was a mouse under the microwave.

I took a look. It was a palmetto bug, aka the American cockroach.

The house manager got a big kick out of this; a strapping young man like that, freaking out over a bug. Even if it had been a mouse, it still seems pretty funny that he'd be scared.
