do the riders place the signs?

This afternoon when I boarded the bus - to get to the library - and asked for a transfer, the driver said that "the [Bus Stop] sign was too close to the curb."

I have no idea what that has to do with getting a transfer, but I had to ask him a second time before I got the transfer.

For the past two weeks I've had a decent job. Yesterday and today I arrived too late to get the ticket. But, this morning I was told that if I show up on time Monday I'll still have the job.
