Kerry-Edwards: good choice
The RNC, of course, has their own take on the situation
Now that Kerry has publicly declared his choice for veep (no, NY Post, it wasn't Gephardt), the Republican political machine has spewed forth its surprising verdict: "too liberal."
Come on, folks. The RNC would have called the Dem ticket "too liberal" no matter who Kerry chose. If McCain was on the ticket they'd say the same thing. They follow the "one-trick-pony" model; "if they aren't supporting our every position, they must be too liberal for America."
Buncha idiots, I say.
Once upon a time, the political cliche in the U.S. was the "knee-jerk liberal." That particular animal is long gone. What we have now is an enormous herd of "knee-jerk conservatives." A herd, by the way, that only looks out for itself.
That old bogey the "knee-jerk liberal" (which was never very common in the first place) was never much of a threat. Even the conservatives admitted that extreme liberals were worried about the rights of others. On the other hand, extreme conservatives hold nothing but disdain for the interests of others. Who would you prefer to sit in judgement over your future: someone who considers your needs and opinions before deciding, or someone whose self-interest drives their choices?
Stupid-ass selfish conservatives. Guess I'll just put a bullet in my brain ... it's preferable to another 4 years of Dick and Bush. After four more years, the world will probably be uninhabitable anyway.
