I'm back

It's been awhile.

I was already a few days behind in posting, when heaven forfend! My electricity was shut off. No big deal, right? Pay the bill and it comes back on.

Unfortunately it was 5 days and 4 nights before I was able to pay the bill. I certainly got a lot of reading done; 3 books in 4 days. No radio, no Weather Channel, no History or Sci-Fi channels. Not much to do but read. I even went down to the Dollar Store and got a glass candlehondler and a couple of 12" tapers. Nothing stinky, mind you, just plain wax candles.

Those two lasted three nights; the first night I burned up 4 AA-cells reading by flashlight. The flashlight made a better reading lamp than the candles but I couldn't recharge my batteries without outside electric. So, I saved my remaining batteries for my portable CD player. I didn't even kill the first set of batteries, but they were Hi-Cap NiCads (from my camera).

And of course I ate canned food, cold.

Mmmm ... cold soup ...
