ooh, the doofus dares to speak
On Sunday, the Alfred E. Neuman-in-Chief will tell the American people not to worry. After all, he doesn't, so why should we? He still has a job, so why should the tens of thousands of Americans who lose their jobs every month be worried?
I'll tell you why they should be worried. Because this pResident continues to pursue policies that benefit the people who laid them off, while paying only lip service to the workers themselves.
Speaking of lip service, look at what he is doing to veterans. No skin off his nose; his isn't a real veteran, having gone AWOL. No, the real veterans - the ones he promised to protect - are getting the shaft, at his hand. Yet too many of them still support him rabidly. I do not understand this to this day, nor do I think I shall ever.
Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is working hard to preserve veterans' benefits. This does not surprise me, as I understand her. She has the people in mind. Dubya does not. He is power-mad.
Many people outside Hillary's constituency fail to realize what an effective Senator she has been. I moved out of New York State just before her election (though I would have voted for her if I were there at the time - and I told her so when I met her personally in Elmira, NY at a campaign stop). Even dyed-in-the-wool Republicans in her district admit that she has been a better advocate for their needs than either Daniel Patrick Moynihan or Alphonse D'Amato, the Senators who preceded her and Schumer.
Dubya has said on several occasions that he values the contributions of our veterans, and that he would not do anything to abridge their existing benefits. Yet he does precisely that, slashing benefits for disabled vets and reducing benefits for veterans in general.
Why any veteran would support this bald-faced liar is beyond me.
An Indecent Proposal
