cuttin' da lawn!

My folks were in town yesterday, on their whirlwind tour of Florida and North Carolina. Actually they came down to purchase a winter home, so they don't have to truck a 5th-wheel trailer back and forth. They had to hurry back to make it to a particular appointment, so they could only stay here for the afternoon. Tonight they stay with my brother in Asheville.

While they were here, we went shopping. I finally bought a lawn mower, after living in this house for two years. I also bought a weather-resistant padlock; when I first moved in, a friend gave me a used lawn mower, and it was promptly stolen. So I will be locking this one up with a hefty chain.

Since I've been living here, I've had a guy coming over to cut my lawn, but I have to call him and then of course I have to pay him. He does a great job, but I think it would be easier if I just did it myself.

Meanwhile, on the greater scale, our troops continue to die in the Iraqi quagmire. Palestinians chant "the roadmap is dead." The domestication of the dog continues unabated.
