out of the blue

My computer, or more specifically the operating system (Debian Linux), has been occupying a lot of my free time over the last couple days. That, coupled with a rather slow satellite Internet service, kept me from reading yesterday's email until late in the afternoon. I know, I know - email is one of the first things I do in the morning, but there you go.

So, there was a message from a friend who also happens to be a PCB designer. He had a couple of recruiters call him about a job in King of Prussia, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. His traveling years are behind him; he's happily settled down in one place. He forwarded the message regarding the job to me and several other Mentor Graphics veterans.

A few minutes ago I spoke to the recruiter. Because of my long (8 year) absence from the design world, he said that it would be a hard sell, but told me to send him my updated resume anyway.

He also said that "it would be nice" if I could put some more recent design experience in my resume, but I just won't lie on a resume. Do that, and you have to remember what you said and back it up at some point. Not gonna happen.

I will polish the resume and make the relevant software experience stand out. It can't hurt to keep my name out there. Especially when they wave close to six figures in your face.

  1. Well I hope that, even if this contact doesn't result in something concrete right now, perhaps it will in due course. Good luck!
