Up in Cherokee for the afternoon, at Marina's. Rocko and her dog (Ivory) are having trouble getting along. It's not Rocko, but Ivory, who is the problem. Rocko doesn't fight and he knows that this is Ivory's home.
I just finished helping pick a Hawthorn berry tree. Lots of big, 2" thorns.
Later -- Rocko and Ivory are getting along better. She's clearly the alpha dog, and keeps putting her ball in front of his nose and attacking when he sniffs at it.
Ivory took Rocko for a run down the hill, and once he found the creek he headed downstream on his own. When I got him back I chained him up.
We're getting a few pictures of some of Marina's art.
6 PM -- Pizza and wings in the sweet mountain air!
8 PM -- What a long and wonderful day. Rocko, Ivory and I climbed a ways up the mountain behind the horse pen just before sunset. Erin and Jose Rodriguez (Marina's daughter and son-in-law) had dinner with us and left at about 7:30. Marina has already crashed on the couch; we have the bedroom and Rocko is staying indoors with us tonight. I'm ready for bed too; Lisa and Mark are still out on the porch talking about old times. Marina told me that she is very happy that I am there for Lisa.
Everybody is so dang friendly. Mark looks very familiar to me, not sure why; but we're getting along famously. Rocko's still very submissive with Ivory most of the time, but he likes the horses.
