RINOs

I've been hearing Tea Party types call the saner Republicans RINOs lately, meaning "Republican In Name Only". What seems clear now, after the final default-averting vote, is that it is the Tea Party that is RINO.

In an effort to avoid the Godwin's Law trap, I'm going to say that the Tea Party thinks that anybody to the left of Benito Mussolini is a RINO. (Phew, dodged a bullet there.)

One of the few good things about this shutdown-and-potential-default debacle is this: not all of the Republicans have lost their minds, but now we know for sure who the real extremists are.
