Happy 4th of July to all Americans! Two hundred and thirty-six years. Wow. You don't look a day over 100!

We'll be going over to Lisa's mom's house for a cookout; we're bringing some chicken and blackberries.

The blackberries are finally coming on. The black raspberries and dewberries were never as plentiful as the blackberries, but they were a nice treat while they lasted. There are still a few black raspberries left but my fruit dish would be almost empty if not for the "real" blackberries. Yesterday and today I brought home about a cupful of berries each day. Not enough to make jam or pie, but enough to spruce up a couple of bowls of cereal.
