slight format tweak

The background color for this blog has been changed for aesthetic purposes. For the longest time, the background was pleasing to me on my PC, but had a sickly pea-soup cast when I viewed it on Lisa's CRT.

I customize the colors and fonts of all of the GUI elements on my computers. Long ago I settled on a basically tan theme because it is easy on my eyes. But every monitor is slightly different; when setting up a new machine with my own colors, I always need to tweak the hexadecimal color codes in order to maintain a comfortable workspace.

Everybody seems to have made it through 21 May 2011 safely. I imagine that a number of people are going to find themselves living quite frugally now, having quit jobs and either lived on their savings (budgeting so that the money would run out yesterday) or quit their jobs and disposed of their possessions.

One man had his pets taken away from him because he planned to euthanize them before the no-show Rapture. He had been attempting to secure drugs from veterinarians for that very purpose, but had been turned away. Fearing the worst, the authorities seized the critters.
