mortality

A guy who graduated from high school a year ahead of me died of cancer a few days ago. Eight or nine years ago, a 39 year old fellow that I had known since first grade died of a heart attack, but he had always been morbidly obese.

So far my health is good, if you discount a sensitive pancreas. That flares up when I eat too much fat, particularly mozzarella cheese sticks. Three of those, while delicious and initially satisfying, give me a particular discomfort that has become too familiar. It sent me to the hospital a few years ago. A couple of times.

I expect to live into my 80's, though. All of my grandparents did, and long life is common in my family tree going back to the 1600's.
