I was disappointed to see only four meteors between midnight and 2:37 AM, when the event was called on account of rain. The few I saw were pretty nice (as meteors go) but perhaps I am jaded since seeing that enormous green fireball back in the early 90's. You know, the one that landed on the corner of some lady's Chevy in Connecticut. I saw it glowing, enormous, all the way across the sky.
Last night's sleep schedule was a recipe for disaster. Nap from 6 to 9 PM, nap from 10 to 12 PM; back to bed at three after the rain started, up again at 5 am. Made coffee that time. Nap in the morning. Nap in the late afternoon. My brain is finally pretty much settled down now, but just in time for "real bed".
Despite my frazzled state, I did manage to get another load of laundry done and put away along with the two loads from yesterday.
Still trying to remove the driver's side mirror to glue the assembly back together. Made progress on it yesterday, but didn't have the presence of mind today to even try. Now that I am the official driver, all the little annoyances get to me more than they used to. Driver's side mirror dangling by its cable. Incorrect wipers - too long - that catch on each other when you need them most. The dangling headlight assembly. Overdue for an oil change. Some kind of rattle in the back end (suspension or trunk junk?). All of that stuff that I haven't needed to care about since 1997. It feels good to care about and be able to do something about all this.
And nearly every one of our consistent monthly bills is going down effective September: mortgage, car insurance, drug co-pays. We are even expecting a check for $500 to $600 in reimbursement for drug co-pays going back to April 1, 2010.
Finally, NEW FURNITURE ALERT! This afternoon while I slept, Lisa took Rocko for a walk. At the end of the street, and older lady was having a yard sale to help put a dent in their co-pays for her husband's upcoming lung transplant. She sold Lisa a beautiful corduroy double-recliner love seat for $10. Now we can get rid of my better-than-no-recliner-but-still-sucky recliner and rearrange the living room. There are certain location requirements; we both need access to our computers without leaving the love seat. Good thing we have Wi-Fi and multiple surge suppressors.
One last item: I called my old fishing buddy Paul on Tuesday. We haven't seen each other since 1998 at the latest, and were both overjoyed to be talking again. Lisa told me afterward that she had never, ever seen such a joyous look on my face; she almost expected me to jump up and down because I looked so happy.
