A Georgian luge competitor died during a training run the other day. From what little I have read about the situation, I get the impression that other competitors have had difficulty with the course.
And so I am left wondering: is the course extremely challenging or just poorly designed? Are the warm temperatures a factor? Why was Vancouver selected for the Winter Olympics? The temperate climate would seem to be less than ideal. Vancouver is not like Alberta or Quebec. Maybe they are holding the Olympics on the coast for better access to "B.C. bud" for the snowboarders.
Obviously more research is necessary on my part. I find the luge fascinating from the point of view of the rider. I want to ride the luge!
