the health care debate

If the Republicans were in the Democrats' shoes - if the number of Republican senators and representatives was equal to the current Democratic count - and they had a piece of legislation they wanted passed as badly as the Democrats want health care, they would push it through with enough force that the bill would have blood and mucus stains by the time it reached the President's desk.

The Republican machine runs on bullies. The Democrats seem to be overly polite in contrast. Bullies will cause trouble even when outnumbered, but only if you let them.

Take the damn gloves off, Democratic Party machine. Treat the Republicans just as shabbily as they treat you. We're getting impatient. Howard Dean tried it but was already too unpopular.
