NASCAT

There was a rarely seen spectacle in our back yard this morning: the Super Bowl Weekend NASCAT Race. Six or so of the neighborhood cats were seen running - fast - in single file along the fence that delineates the perimeter of our yard. This may be an annual event. I wasn't living here at this time last year so I wouldn't know.

Too many of them for Jack to chase off. Besides that, all the rain we've had over the past few days has left the yard wet beyond Jack's degree of tolerance.

Earlier today I observed a large black-and-white cat seated at the foot of Sage's grave. It appeared to be mourning. Sage, after all, really just wanted to play with the cats she chased. I am certain some of them recognized that.
