I recommend ...

As the proud son of a naval veteran, father of a Marine and father-in-law of an Iraq veteran, I recommend the website VetVoice.

God bless America, land that I love, and my most heartfelt thanks to all veterans (living and dead) and troops still in uniform.

I am also very proud of my 5th-great-grandfather, Henry Vought, who served with honor under General George Washington in our successful battle for independence from Great Britain.

As you should be of course, but you'll forgive me (I'm sure) if I don't share in its totality your joy, given that I am a proud and happy subject/citizen of His (George III's) current successor Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ;)

Congratulations of course on the election result and the success of your President Elect, Barack Hussein Obama - it is wonderful to see that the race barrier has, finally, been stormed in the US. We got there first with a female head of government, but undoubtedly you'll achieve that too in due course, although I sincerely hope it won't be with Sarah Palin.

By the way, over several years of reading your blog I am very glad that you seem recently to have achieved a more settled existence, with hope for the future - it is good to see :) .

  2. Thanks Bill. No offense to you or your fellow Brits was intended, of course.

And yes, my life has greatly improved of late and I am glad to say that I actually foresee a reasonably happy future for myself.

  3. Oops, sorry, I suppose I should have said "Scots" rather than "Brits".

My ladylove is a Stewart, born in the U.S. but her father was a native Scot. She would scold me for describing a Scot as British. Fortunately for me, she does not read my blog :)

  4. LOL - well I'm Scottish too, of course, but first and foremost I consider myself British - equally proud of both designations, though :)
