more bad news from home
Mom is now on oxygen 24/7 and is rarely lucid. She is on hospice care and effective tomorrow will have a health care workers on-site for two hours each day.
Dad says that Mom keeps removing her oxygen tube and he feels guilty just taking time out to check his email. He tells me that friends keep bringing food - so he won't need to spend time cooking - but now he has so much that they'll never be able to eat it all. It is, of course, the thought that counts.

I am sorry. People who want to help should sit with your mom while your dad checks his mail and takes an occasional break. If he won't ask them to, you should.
ReplyDeleteWish I could help. I've been there.
Thanks. I talked to Dad last night, and he says that friends are staying with Mom now and then so he can go into town for coffee with his buddies.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way you can get home to be with your Mom? it doesn't seem right that you can't be there for your family.
ReplyDeleteI've been there too and, though I miss my parents terribly, I'm so thankful that they are no longer suffering. I was fortunate to be able to spend all of my free time with them during their last months, but each family's situation and circumstances are unique. Only you and your parents can decide what is best. I'm glad you were able to spend happy times with them not long ago. We all share your anguish and hope and pray for the best for you and your family.
