... a few details on the "cops" incident

Someone asked me to say something about how the cops got involved last week when I went to PATH, so here we go:

I was depressed and cold late on Saturday, Dec. 16. Cops always hang out at a particular Waffle House here in town, watching the drunks, students and drunken students for misbehavior. As I walked by, a couple of college jocks came out bitching about what pricks the cops were being. They knocked over one of those tall pedestal-like ashtrays.

The cops came out and accused me of knocking it over. When I protested, they pointed at a security camera and hinted that I had been seen knocking the thing down. I replied that the camera would have shown that I in fact hadn't done such a thing. They told me to get off the property.

Already depressed, I was now angry as well. I went to the gas station next door then turned around and came back to Waffle House, but this time I stood in the road out front. The cops yelled at me to "get out of the damn road," so I sat down. In the road.

They got on the radio and called for a local cop (they were County) to pick me up. They said, "we have a bed at PATH for you" so I stood up; that bed is what I wanted anyway. They seemed to misinterpret my accepting behavior as some kind of challenge, because they pushed me down across the hood of the local cop's car and handcuffed me exceptionally tightly, so much so that the cuffs actually drew a little blood on my wrist.

They searched my pockets and confiscated - and never returned - my pocketknife, my nail clippers and my cigarette lighter.

Fucking pricks.
