trapped by rain
and what a rain it was
This evening I attended an A.A. meeting (shhh! I'm anonymous!), and on the way back to the city bus station I was trapped across Tennessee Street at the Greyhound bus station by a torrential downpour. I was already behind schedule, having a 7 PM curfew, but refused to cross the street in that deluge. Passing cars were throwing water 10 feet or more onto (more accurately, "over") the sidewalks.
I missed the 7:20 bus, and once I finally got to the library I missed the 8:00 PM bus. I'll catch the 8:40 for sure, but who knows what kind of trouble I'll be in when I get home.
Today I blew off work. The guy who owns the gas station told me to be there at 11 AM, but by 12 PM he still hadn't shown up. He wanted me to wait for him and "don't do anything" until he arrived. I finally said "fuck this" and left. I could have been at the noon A.A. meeting if I didn't have to wait for that verbally abusive dipstick.
Hey, I got smokes, I have bus fare. I really don't need his attitude. Besides, I can make more money with fewer headaches at day labor.
In national news, pResident George "Whatsamattafayou" Bush announced today that it "could take years" for the Roberts nomination to get through Congress. He also said that the New Orleans disaster and the Iraq situation are "pretty much wrapped up".
