Hurricane Katrina headed west of Florida's Big Bend region today. We are getting some rain as a result of the outer bands of the storm, and it has been a bit windy, but that's about it. The downpours rarely last more than a few minutes; you can usually hide under a tree, and before the tree starts dripping too badly you can get back out on the street.

The flooring guy for whom I worked last week seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. While I don't want to sound selfish, I must say that I hope he turns up soon: I haven't been paid yet for the work I did. Nevertheless I hope he is alive and well for the sake of his wife and children.

Sure would like to get paid, though.
