Not all Republicans are blithering idiots. At least one in New York State has proposed a bill to allow medical marijuana.

A couple of years ago, my mother suffered greatly from the cancer treatment regimen that ultimately saved her life. At the time, I told her that certainly some members of her cancer patient support group could help her get some marijuana to relieve the side effects of her chemotherapy. She told me that she had considered that option already, but the fact that marijuana is illegal prevented her from pursuing the issue.
