corn and candidates

Yesterday (August 5, 2004) found both presidential candidates in Davenport, Iowa.

John Kerry showed his appreciation for Iowa by holding up two ears of corn from the window of his campaign bus as he prepared to leave town.

George "Macho Man" Bush went a step further, peeling back the husk and eating the corn raw.

The next campaign stop will be in Corning, NY - widely known for the production of high-quality glass - where Kerry will hold up a couple of pieces of fine Pyrex glassware. Bush will again go a step further, by smashing a piece of Pyrex and eating the shards. He will follow that up by stopping at the local Ace Hardware store, where he will buy a pound of 8d nails and eat them, washing it all down with a quart of kerosene.
