bad things; mississippi and haiti

drugs and guns are a bad mix

Perhaps you've heard and/or read in the news about the missing family from Mississippi.

A cousin of the father has been apprehended in the case; he was arrested on firearms and drug charges and they subsequently connected him with the murders. The drug he was arrested for was methamphetamine (aka "crystal meth").

Crystal is one of the worst drugs you can do. Crack comes close, but crystal will make you insane. Crack makes you want more crack; crystal makes you violent. Trust me, I've been there - on both counts.

Far away in Haiti, President Aristide has been under fire for some time. Civil unrest and former members of FRAP have been pushing for his ouster.

Today he left the island and flew to the Central African Republic. No media coverage, no photos of his departure, no final address to the nation. Once he was in Africa he made a number of phone calls in which he accused the Bush administration of forcing him from Haiti at, essentially, gunpoint.

Good ol' Bush dialogue in action.

This story may or may not be true, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Gunboat diplomacy, the mainstay of Bush's "compassionate" ideology.

We shall watch to see how this story plays out.
