ain't that just special
I was expecting a package from Amazon.com. Two CDs. Figured I'd treat myself for my birthday, you know?
It was supposed to get here between the 27th and the 29th. On the 25th I checked Amazon to see what the status was. It said that the package had been delivered on the 23rd (Saturday) at 1:45 pm. Now, I checked my mail at 2:15 pm on Saturday; there was mail, but no CDs. No package Monday, nor Tuesday, nor Wednesday. No little pink slips saying that they "had missed me," either. Yesterday I sent an email to the Postal Service regarding the problem, and also one to Amazon.
Then today, August 28, I get a pink slip saying "final notice." It's dated August 27 (yesterday). I was out sick from work yesterday; I was home all day, in fact I went out to the mailbox several times before the mail was delivered, and I did pick up the mail after it was finally delivered. Nobody knocked on my door to get a signature. No pink slip was left.
Now, normally I have no problem with my postal service. My usual mailman is friendly and helpful. Obviously something strange happened, and maybe my email triggered something. Too bad it didn't trigger a normal delivery.
