well isn't that special ... if it's true

background entertainment: "The Donner Party" on The American Experience (PBS)

Today I heard that American forces had "possibly" killed Saddam's sons. Barely 9 hours later I heard that it had been confirmed. Never mind that you can't verify DNA evidence in such a short time; poorly explained "other sources" had supposedly "proved" that the Sons of Saddam were in fact mortal victims (OK, if they're really dead I would hardly consider them victims) of the feted firefight.

The problems I have with this are:
1) The Bush administration has hardly gained my confidence via their constant exaggerations (and outright lies) when discussing any subject whatsoever, dating from before the year 2000's real millenium bug - the Supreme Court's willingness to bend over and say "please, sir."
2) Tony Blair's claim that the Sons "were the head of the regime" is certainly a revelation. Blair never seems to have mentioned them in such a way prior to their "deaths." No, it was always Saddam who was the real problem ... but now they're dead, and Blair can say "case closed." Not the case we had been pursuing, but any case in a storm, eh?

At least if you're Blair or Bush.
