The Culture of Secrecy
The current administration of our Empire came into power under questionable circumstances and immediately set up a culture of secrecy. This was before the so-called War on Terrorism started.
Remember our good buddy Bill Clinton? I voted for him. Twice. I'm not ashamed of that, I'd vote for him again if he was eligible for Presidential office. There was so much criticism of him for all 8 years of his presidency; yet he got much more accomplished, in real terms, than this joke of an administration we have now ever will. The Chimp-in-Chief and his troglodytes are so busy deconstructing our Constitutional rights and transferring wealth into the hands of the already wealthy that they have no time for anything really beneficial.
Except, of course, for revenge. Once they had undone all of Clinton's good deeds, it was time to go after the man who dissed ol' Dad. Never mind North Korea's outright admission that yes, they actually have nuclear weaponry; Saddam might have it someday, so we'd better get him first. Oh, yeah. The logic is staggering. Staggering like a drunk, that is.
The reins of power belong in the hands of someone who not only understands their proper use, but also understands the historical and Constitutional basis underlying their structure. I doubt that Mr. G.W. Bush has ever read the Constitution, much less the Jefferson - Madison letters, John Stuart Mill's "On Liberty," or even the Declaration of Independence.
Yes, Clinton was roundly criticized, even before he was elected, especially for his failure to serve in the military during the Vietnam Era; yet George W. Bush was AWOL during the last year of his National Guard service, and not a peep was heard. He refused to release his service record, and not a peep was heard. That's the "liberal media" for you. The media is about as liberal as Ashcroft. Clinton, at least, was a voracious reader; he understood history. Bush neither reads nor understands history. I'm not even sure he can read.
