Another beautiful November day in Tallahassee, FL - almost 70F outside and it's my day off. It's almost time to head off on my mountain bike, gotta hit the bank so I can go shopping.

No car, not since 1997. Lost my license in 1996, got caught driving drunk (very drunk) a year later; I decided to sell my car at that point to remove the temptation to continue driving w/o a license. The fact that the car was impounded for months made the decision easier.

You get used to living without a car. At least I did. I feel a need for one about three times a year, when I really need to carry something that's too big to take on the bus or on my bike. So I call a cab or get a friend with a truck.

You can afford to buy a really nice bicycle if you don't have car payments.
